Mr. Sadowski, Miss Wetzel, Mrs. McPherson, E.O.’s mom and B.C.’s dad were here today. We didn’t go into the forest today because it was slippery from the ice and very windy.
In the morning we were looking at papers that showed one whole year. It showed seasons, months, weeks, days, and then holidays. During one activity, we pretended that K.W. was the sun and we all walked around her turning like the earth. One trip around the sun is a whole year.
We made kites, flags, and pinwheels. We were going to try to fly them outside. It was very hard to rip the paper we used so we had to use scissors. We learned that it takes lots of practice for scientists to make something work.
For snack we had chili! The beans and vegetables were from the garden. There was corn in the chili. The garden club kept the food after they picked it and saved it in the freezer. Some of us thought it was delicious!
We went outside to try and fly our kites and other inventions. It was very slippery and icy out and some of us fell down, but we got right back up. Some of us tried to stay and skate on the ice.
We had a contest between the girls and the boys. We were trying to build the biggest ice building we could. We tried to build it high up to the sky.
In the afternoon, we made snowflakes out of paper. We got triangles and then we cut different parts before we unfolded them. After listening to a poem we knew that a snowflake has six points. Each snowflake is different.
The whole entire day was wonderful.
It was also a new year for us. 2015!
It was 24 degrees today while we were outside even though it felt colder because of the wind.
